NILGOSC administers the Local Government Pension Scheme for Northern Ireland . Membership is open to employees working in local government and to employees in the public sector who are not eligible to join another scheme (such as the Teachers', Lecturers' or Firefighters' schemes).

Current groups of employees include the staff of the 26 local councils, non-teaching staff employed by the Education & Library Boards and the Voluntary Grammar Schools, staff of the Housing Executive and Translink, and staff of a wide range of other associated employers.



LOCAL GOVERNMENT PENSION SCHEME (NI) FROM 1 APRIL 2009

Changes to the Local Government Pension Scheme (NI) are now in effect. These changes will only apply to members who were active on or after 1 April 2009. We are currently updating our website to reflect these changes and will have the amendments made as soon as possible.
