Dear Sir/Madam
1. Alternative AVC Provider
In view of the unfortunate events surrounding the
Equitable Life Assurance Company over the past few months, the Committee has
now appointed the Prudential Assurance Company Limited as an additional AVC
provider. Members will, of course,
still have the option of contributing to Equitable Life.
Negotiations are now under way with the Prudential
to set up appropriate administrative procedures so that members who wish to
commence making AVC payments may do so.
We understand that the Prudential will be able to receive contributions
direct from employing authorities, thereby ensuring that they are invested more
quickly in order to maximise the return to the member. Employing authorities will be kept informed
as further information becomes available.
2. Staff Training Day
Please note that our offices will be closed and the
switchboard unmanned on Thursday, 15 February 2001 due to a staff training day. Authorities are therefore requested to
advise appropriate staff to avoid trying to contact us on that day. We regret any inconvenience which this may
cause.
