Employer Seminars - Local Government Pension Scheme Regulations (NI) 2000

The above regulations come into operation on 1 August 2000 and introduce significant changes to the Local Government Pension Scheme. These changes were outlined in our circular number 1/2000, dated 3 March 2000.

In order to ensure that all employing authorities are fully acquainted with their obligations under the new regulations, a programme of seminars has been organised for payroll and human resources staff during the month of August. A list of dates and venues is attached to this circular. Seminars are expected to be of approximately two hours duration. There is no charge.

Please complete the enclosed seminar booking form and return it to NILGOSC by fax or post as soon as possible. In completing the form, please note the following:

· Places are limited to two per employing authority in the first instance and will be allocated on a "first come, first served" basis. · Please indicate your first, second and third preferences with regard to the date/venue you wish to attend. · Please advise us if you require additional places. If there is sufficient demand, additional seminars will be arranged in September, probably at NILGOSC. · Please advise us immediately if you or your staff are unable to attend.

Places will be confirmed by e-mail, fax or telephone at least one week in advance of each seminar.

I would stress that the new regulations place additional requirements on employing authorities and will necessitate changes to current working practices and procedures. It is therefore hoped that authorities will make every effort to ensure that relevant staff attend a training seminar.
