KEEPING YOU INFORMED – AVC COMMUNICATION
TO MEMBERS
The purpose of
this letter is to inform you that pension scheme members, for whom we hold a
current home address, will shortly be receiving a communication from our AVC
provider Prudential to help increase awareness about our Additional Voluntary
Contribution (AVC) facility.
The
communication will consist of a letter and leaflet and will contain telephone,
coupon and web-site options for requesting further information direct from
Prudential.
Although the
Local Government Pension Scheme is recognised as an excellent occupational
pension scheme, our records do indicate that the average pension being paid to
retiring members is just under £5000 per annum. Very few members do actually
retire with the maximum forty years service so it important to regularly inform
members as to how they can top up their benefits.
Prudential has
been active in delivering presentations to staff since their appointment in
April 2001 and this alternative method of communication has been very well
received by over 3000 attendees at such sessions. This service is still
available and indeed the presentation was revamped last year, one of the
reasons for the change being that people attending for a second time were not
listening to the same presentation.
If your staff
have not yet had the opportunity to attend such a presentation or a year or two
has passed since sessions were held, Robert Stormonth, our Prudential
Relationship Manager, can be contacted by telephone on 01236 763486, fax on
01236 779993 or e-mail at robert.stormonth@prudential.co.uk.
Robert will be
happy to discuss your requirements and make the necessary arrangements for
presentations to take place. I encourage you to make use of this service,
especially at a time when interest in AVCs by members will be high following
the imminent written communication.
Yours sincerely
Mr D W Morrice
