Public Sector Exit Payment Recovery Regulations Consultation

19 January 2016

The Consultation seeks views on allowing for the recovery of exit payments when a high earner returns to the public sector shortly after exit.

The consultation also proposes some changes to what was originally developed e.g. the level at which recovery would apply is reduced to £80k from £100k;  the policy will apply on return to the any part of the public sector and not just the same sector; the removal of full recovery periods; and, the inclusion of ‘top-up’ payments for unreduced early pensions.

The consultation document can be accessed at:

The consultation will close on 25 January 2016.

Responses should be sent directly to HM Treasury in line with the guidance and contact details given in part 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 of the consultation document.
